I love educating students, I especially love the 'Ah Ha' moment when a student gets a concept.

I teach individuals and small groups of high school pupils. I specialize in teaching pupils from grade 10 to 12, and maintain good relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.

Higher Diploma in Education (Post Graduate) (University of the Witwatersrand 1982). Specialist subjects: Mathematics and English.

BA (University of the Witwatersrand, 1981).

EXPERIENCE

In 2011, after a successful IT career in a number of companies, I decided I needed to diversify and have an alternative to the IT industry. I re-acquainted myself with the High School Mathematics syllabus (specifically the CAPS syllabus), and I started tutoring pupils in the grade I was working through at the same time.

I have had good results with Grade 10 to Grade 12 pupils, and I also teach grade 8 and 9. Depending on the ability of the pupil, and where the gaps in knowledge are, I can bring a learner's marks up by between 5% and 20%. I tutor individuals and small groups of 3 to 12 individuals. Sometimes the groups are mixed grades.

I am a fully qualified Mathematics and English teacher, and I have many years' experience and a post graduate course in programming and system development in the IT industry. I have also taught programming and development skills. My main teaching focus in the last 10 years has been Maths tutoring. I have also taught high school Mathematics at an online high school for a number of years.

I recommend the Mindbourne Mathematics textbooks and Videos, for all my pupils. However, I also work with maths textbooks from other publishers, depending on the needs of the learners, and in order to offer variety in exercises and presentation from what they get from their school.
